Like so many ideas, Hourly was born out of frustration with the status quo. The frustration that we experienced first hand working freelance, and having to hustle at the end of each job to find a new one. Like so many of our members we trolled the job boards, sent out countless resumes, networked, only to either be inundated with work or experience the terror of wondering when the next job (and paycheck) might materialize.
On the flip-side, we have visited the same boards looking to hire freelance and temporary help, and found the process equally maddening. Anonymous online postings, sifting through emails, in person meetings, checking credentials; etc. To us it seemed crazy that with all the social networking going on, that there was not a better system for matching employers with eager candidates.
And so Hourly was born, developed, and boot-strapped out of a small home office in the Spring of 2010 and launched (in beta form) on Labor Day. Since then, we’ve been in a state of constant conversation and improvement, working from our own ideas, your feedback and that from investors and peers at some incredible events that we’ve been graciously invited to attend:NYC Poly Incubator, UNC Kenan-Flagler entrepreneurial study program, First Growth Venture Network, and the Web 2.0 Startup Showcase, where we were selected “Fan Favorite”.
Our mission is to get you back to work an hour at a time. For employers and employees alike, to spend less time looking and more time working through our advanced job-matching engine. So, let’s get back to work
